By Bahaushiya News

The former Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Sheikh Abdullahi Saleh Usman, popularly known as Sheikh Abdallah Saleh Pakistan, has formally explained the reasons behind his resignation from the leadership of the commission.

In a detailed statement released on Monday, Sheikh Abdullahi announced that his resignation took effect from Monday, February 9, 2026, stressing that the decision was made purely on personal grounds after deep reflection, prayers, and consultations with his family.

According to him, the move was not prompted by any disagreement with the government, the commission, or any stakeholder involved in Nigeria’s Hajj administration.

“I wish to clearly state that this decision was taken solely for personal reasons. It came after careful thought, prayers, and family consultations, and it was made with a clear conscience and full respect for the responsibility entrusted to me,” he stated.

Resignation Submitted to the President

Sheikh Abdullahi disclosed that, in line with Section 3(6) of the NAHCON Act of 2006, he formally submitted his written resignation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).

He expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for the confidence and honour bestowed on him through his appointment, describing the opportunity to serve Nigeria and the Muslim Ummah as a privilege he would always cherish.

“I remain eternally grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the trust and confidence reposed in me. The honour of serving our nation and the Muslim community at this level is one I will always remember with pride.”

Appreciation to Vice President, NAHCON Members, and Stakeholders

The former NAHCON chairman also commended Vice President Kashim Shettima for his leadership, encouragement, and unwavering support throughout his tenure.

He extended appreciation to members of the NAHCON board, management, and staff, praising their professionalism, resilience, dedication, and teamwork in advancing Nigeria’s Hajj operations.

Sheikh Abdullahi further acknowledged the cooperation of State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards, airline operators, and other critical stakeholders, including partners in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that their collaboration significantly strengthened Nigeria’s Hajj administration.

No Rift, No Crisis — Clarification

Addressing public speculation, Sheikh Abdullahi emphasized that his resignation does not reflect dissatisfaction with NAHCON, the Federal Government, or the commission’s mission.

“This resignation is not a reflection of any conflict or discontent. It does not diminish the importance of the work we collectively pursued,” he clarified.

Prayers for the Future

As he steps aside, Sheikh Abdullahi offered prayers for the leadership of Nigeria and the commission, asking Allah (SWT) to guide the President and the incoming NAHCON leadership, and to grant future Nigerian pilgrims Hajj Mabrur.

“I pray that Allah, in His infinite mercy, accepts our efforts, guides the President and the new leadership of NAHCON, and grants all future pilgrims a successful and accepted Hajj.”

The resignation marks the end of Sheikh Abdullahi Saleh Usman’s tenure as NAHCON chairman, closing a chapter defined by institutional collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and service to the Nigerian Muslim community.
